Chennakesava Temple, Belur, Karnataka, India 11th- 13th c. AD The ornamented windows called jalandhras which were inserted, between the previously open columns of the mandapa, in the 13th century allow sufficient light and air to enter the interior of the temple. These are finely carved with figures of Gods and Godesses and other ornamental forms.
